Problogger.com Forum
Darren Rowse of Problogger fame has just launched his own private forum on Problogger.com as opposed to his usual site at problogger.net – that is .com not .net. The gist of the forum is that he is charging money to join – $2 for now but threatens to increase the fee after the first month.
So is it worth it?
Maybe to Darren Rowse as he stands to make a pretty penny from memberships given the size of his readership but it wont likely be worth the 2 bucks for any of the members. Why? Well like all the other forums – think Warrior Forum or Digital point to name the two Internet Marketing biggies – it will be full of noobs advising each other on stuff they no nothing about with a mix of affiliate pimps flogging their useless products to the naive and gullible. Cynical? Perhaps. Have any of you honestly ever made money hanging around forums?
Let’s face it – successful marketers are busy doing their thing and don’t hang out in forums. Who has the time or inclination to waste valuable info and effort on social bloggers for free? Nobody successful. People who spend time on forums tend to do nothing else – check their post counts. Anyone with 1000 posts doesn’t have the time to actually dash a marketing business. They are the Fake it till you Make it Crowd and yet they are the very people that give advice to the noobs. Classic blind leading the blind.
Back to Darren Rowse. It seems that he isn’t actually planning on doing much in his forum himself and has hired a Moderator. The moderator is a woman named Lara Kulpa and it turns out she is just another noob with no knowledge of Internet Marketing either. You can get the scoop here Problogger.com.
Read the post and comments in that link and decide for yourself. If you really want to learn how to make money with an online business I suggest you get to know who the real marketers are and who the bloggers are. Darren Rowse is firmly in the Blogging camp and in spite of all the fluffy posts doesn’t impart any advice that makes money for anyone but him. By all means – spend $2 and find out.
